Why Certifications Matter
Certifications are your legal license to sell. Without them, shipments get held at customs, products get recalled, and brand reputation suffers.
1. CE Marking (EU)
Mandatory for EEA. Key directives: EMC (2014/30/EU), LVD (2014/35/EU), RoHS (2011/65/EU). Cost: $500-2,000 per model. Timeline: 2-4 weeks.
2. FCC (US)
Required for all electronic devices. FCC Part 15 covers most beauty devices. Cost: $300-1,500. Timeline: 1-3 weeks.
3. FDA (US)
Applies when products make therapeutic claims (acne treatment, anti-aging). Cosmetic devices (beautification only) may not need FDA registration. Always consult a regulatory specialist.
4. RoHS
Restricts lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBBs, PBDEs. Required for CE marking. Increasingly required by retailers worldwide.
